                                                                                 Photo taken in about 1946

Hello from three older Symondians,

This is just a fun site to swap reminiscences and post photos. So have a look round and check to see if you figure in any of them. There are links to 'Related' sites of interest at the bottom of this page.  Please let us know if you find any faulty links.

Jim Wishart started the original MSN site in November 2000 and the membership rose steadily, if slowly, to 190 members as at 11th. January 2009. Due to the 'closure' of MSN, a new 'Host' had to be found and, after much deliberation and a certain amount of uncertainty due to 'the unknown', Multiply was chosen as being the best available at the time and being similar in layout to MSN. Doug Clews successfully set up the new site, not without teething problems, in March 2009. After the transfer to the new site at Multiply, members rejoined us quite quickly at first, but, unfortunately, that slowed and membership as at 12th. April 2009 stood at 52 and only 58 as at 14th. February 2012, a LONG way off the original 190..

Before posting messages, please be aware of the following:
This site is un-moderated.
Although new applications for membership are vetted for authenticity, messages are posted without the managers vetting them first and we would like to keep things that way, so in order to continue with a 'light touch' we ask everyone to take care and be considerate of other people's feelings.
Each and every member must take full and sole responsibility for the content of their own messages.
Common sense and a measure of kindness, is all that is requested.
Thank You !

The list seems to be attracting quite a few members with long memories. It has genuine stories that are usually of general interest and there are some new photographs, although the photo albums are not back as they were before the problem with the old server when almost all of them disappeared.

We hope you can join in.

Best regards,

Jim Wishart, Chris Cooper and Doug Clews

15th July 2011...MIKE CONLAN - PSSW 1968 to 1974
As some of you will already be aware, Mike Conlan sadly passed away on 4th. June 2011, after an illness bravely borne ...
Mike was Honorary Secretary of the Old Symondians Society from 1999 and, in that capacity, contributed to our Group on many occasions. For those who knew him at School, or came into contact with him socially, or through his Financial Planning Consultancy business in Wiltshire, he will be remembered as a happy, friendly and jovial person, devoted to whatever he was involved in and there is no doubt he will be sadly missed.
Our thoughts and very best wishes go to his Wife and 3 chidren, particularly during this sorrowful time, but also in to the future.

Doug Clews
